Within a couple of miles of the golden beaches at Sandsend and Runswick Bay, this comfortable, three-storey cottage offers a large family or group of friends a welcoming headquarters to plan trips to the sweeping landscape of the North York Moors and the picturesque villages and towns which punctuate its glorious coastline. With plenty of space for visitors on two and four paws, the cottage offers sea views from a Juliet balcony, light and airy rooms furnished to a high standard and a charming front courtyard.
The ground floor opens with a spacious kitchen/dining room where dogs and their humans can gather at all times of the day, a place to pop corks and enjoy sumptuous meals around a large wooden table. With the dishes done, move into the inviting lounge to relax by the wood burner or watch a film. Stairs from the lounge lead to the first floor where, along with a bathroom, a double bedroom sits opposite a bunk bedroom, perfect for smaller guests. A spacious en-suite king-size bedroom dominates the third floor, coming complete with a two-seater sofa, TV, two Velux windows and bi-fold patio doors to a Juliet balcony with North Sea views. Outside, a paved courtyard acts as a welcoming area to grab five minutes.
Lythe offers dog-friendly pubs and easy access to the beaches at Sandsend (1 mile) and Runswick Bay (5 miles). The beach at Whitby (4 miles) can be reached on foot via Sandsend, the harbour town’s cobblestone streets home to a range of dog-friendly amenities and iconic abbey ruins. Closer to the cottage, Mulgrave Woods (2 miles) is home to fascinating ruins and offers umpteen footpaths and trails that dogs will love investigating.
