Canine Care

Proud to support The Battersea Way

Ruth King 14 July 2023

For the fourth year in a row, Canine Cottages is proud to be sponsoring Battersea’s pet advice email series, The Battersea Way, helping the nation to keep their pets healthy and happy.

The partnership between two organisations that simply love dogs was a great success throughout 2021, 2022 and 2023. Our team at Canine Cottages sponsored Battersea's fortnightly emails, packed with a whole host of handy information from Battersea's experts such as behaviour and training tips, or DIY recipes so that you can spoil your pampered pooch silly.

Battersea also provided top tips for our Canine Care series, where we share key information to ensure you have a happy hound.

We're proud to be continuing this partnership into 2024, so Battersea can reach even more dog lovers with their expert advice.

Proudly supporting Battersea

Woman and dog at Battersea

For over 160 years, Battersea has been caring for vulnerable animals in need. It believes that all dogs and cats should have an opportunity to live where they are treated with compassion, care and respect. To support this vision, Battersea works tirelessly to use their voice, knowledge, and resources to support these animals in the UK and around the world.

In the UK, Battersea has three centres where they never turn away a dog or cat in need of their help and, at Canine Cottages, we share this inclusive ethos. In our dog-friendly holiday cottages across the UK, all dogs, no matter what size, shape or sprightliness, are welcome to enjoy a well-deserved holiday with us.

Our team is dog-crazy too, and we love to celebrate all that’s unique about our canine companions! Our Canine Critics competition has been running since 2018, where we have recruited the UK's most talented hounds to be the paws on the ground and review our cottages. For the last two years, we've included categories such as The Rarity, The Hero, and the Rescue, ensuring every dog can have their day in the spotlight.

We've also launched our exclusive Canine Club to bring together like-minded dog lovers and provide a place to talk about our favourite topic – our pets!

Last year, we were lucky enough to spend the entire day with Battersea – read all about what we learnt here. If you're curious to know what it's like for our canine pals in Battersea's care, click the button below to read about their journey from rescue to adoption.

This partnership has allowed our team at Canine Cottages to support Battersea in their incredible work, ensuring our beloved dogs have all the love and attention they deserve, and we're thrilled to be teaming up for another year. Our pals at Battersea are just as excited as we are about continuing this relationship built upon doggy devotion.

Julian Holmes Taylor, Director of Income Generation at Battersea, said:

"We are delighted to have the continued support of Canine Cottages for a third year running. Canine Cottages’ sponsorship of the My Battersea Way advice emails means that we are able to keep sharing Battersea expertise to pet owners to help them keep their pets safe, happy and healthy. Thank you to Canine Cottages for helping Battersea continue to be here for every dog and cat."

You can sign up for the emails by clicking the button below , join in during September's Wear Blue for Rescue, or donate to Battersea and help make a difference to the animals in their care.

Fostering with Battersea

Are you interested in becoming more hands-on with Battersea? The team work incredibly hard to ensure every dog is well cared for but are always interested in chatting to potential dog foster carers. If you are thinking of supporting this amazing charity and fostering your own four-pawed pal, Battersea have provided plenty of advice in our guide to dog fostering – don't be afraid to reach out to them to find out more!

When it comes to caring for your dog or foster dog, Battersea have helped us put together this guide to brain training with your dog. In the guide below, Battersea’s fostering coordinator Emily Wallace answers questions on how to foster a dog, what it's like to foster and how long an animal is likely to stay with you.

Pet-friendly holidays to love

Also for 2023, we have created the Canine Comfort collection, a quality range of dog-friendly holiday properties around the UK, each with a brilliant welcome pack for your four-legged friends. So, why not treat your dog to a well-deserved holiday by browsing our paw-friendly cottages below?
