Nestled within the spectacular scenery of the steep-sided and majestic Glen Clova, enjoy revitalising mountain air and pure escapism. Whether it’s popping on your walking boots to explore the glorious countryside with your canine companion or relaxing in the hot tub with a glass of bubbles, this is the ideal romantic retreat for two, plus a furry friend!
After a day exploring the mountain ranges, lochs and country tracks, return to the warm welcome glow of timber interiors and contemporary open-plan living. Although on a complex of properties, this delightful lodge retains its privacy and seclusion. After discarding coats, boots and cleaning mud-splattered paws and fur, settle down for a welcome rest on the sofas as your pup snoozes at your feet on his favourite blanket. The double vaulted ceiling allows for outstanding views, and the double doors open to the decking where you can indulge in some al fresco dining as your happy hound enjoys the last of the evening sun. Wrap up the day with a dip in the hot tub under the stars to ease walk-weary limbs as Fido settles down, dreaming of tomorrow’s adventures.
Glen Clova is an excellent destination for hillwalking, with routes ranging from gentle strolls along quiet rural roads to challenging hikes, plenty to get that tail wagging! Head to the mountain corrie of Loch Brandy (2 miles) and climb the gentle paths to Corrie Fee (4 miles), a massive bowl scooped out from the rugged mountainside by a glacier during the Ice Age. Further afield, walk along the River Esk at Cortachy (10.5 miles) in a wooded glen, circuit Loch Forfar (17 miles) or chase the waves at St Cyrus Beach (38 miles). With a pub and restaurant within walking distance, indulge after a day in the Scottish elements!
