This charming cottage, situated in the wonderful town of Keswick, is the perfect couple’s getaway – with your loyal pups, of course! Sleeping you both in a comfortable double bedroom with space for up to two dogs, this property is ideal to use as a base for exploring the beautiful Lake District. Go for walkies along the 6-mile out-and-back Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Trail that starts just half a mile from your front door; it takes you over the River Greta across old Victorian railway bridges.
The wonderful stone-built property welcomes you into a lovely open-plan living area; snuggle up together on the sofa in front of the wood burner-effect electric fire, the pups snoozing by your feet. Cook up a storm in the cosy kitchen and eat at the window-side dining table for a romantic meal after a day out hiking. When it’s time for bed, climb the cottage-style staircase and take a relaxing soak in the bath to wind down before drifting off in the peaceful bedroom next door. While there’s no outside space with this cottage, Hope Park and Lower Fitz Park are less than half a mile’s walk away for the pups to stretch their legs before they go to sleep.
Go for strolls around the formal gardens and woodlands at Mirehouse (4.5 miles); if you’re looking for something more challenging try the routes around Skiddaw (6 miles) which are still suitable for your faithful friends. Try a leisurely lake cruise on the Ullswater Steamers (16.5 miles) and get off at Aira Force (13.5 miles direct) for a picnic and a walk up to the stunning waterfall. Whinlatter Forest is also just 5.5 miles away with plenty of walking trails and views across Bassenthwaite Lake, Derwentwater and Keswick.
