Discover the Isle of Wight’s majestic south coast from this rural retreat, offering wonderful views and proximity to plenty of pet-friendly activities and sites. The dog will be in her element, with her own doggie bed provided, fabulous walking trails starting from the front door, and an enclosed garden where she can be free as a bird. With room for two guests in its one king-size bedroom, this lovely wooden lodge has got ‘romantic trip’ written all over it, but would also suit a lone traveller and his/her dog to a tee.
On entering the accommodation, you’ll step up to the open-plan living area which has everything you need for cooking, sharing meals and chilling out. There’s a sofa for kicking back after long days out exploring, a TV for entertainment and oodles of rug space for your tired whiskered friend to doze. This dual-aspect space is light and airy, and has an attractive grey-and-yellow colour scheme which continues into the sweet bedroom. Artwork on the walls contributes to the welcoming, homely atmosphere. In warm weather, make the most of the paved patio, which has furniture so you can sit out and lap up the fresh air and views. A BBQ is on hand to create doggie-tantalising feasts, while the fire pit will keep you all warm if it’s chilly.
The nearby village of Godshill (1.5 miles) is known for its thatched cottages, independent shops, tearooms, and a model village you’re welcome to visit with your dog on a lead. Ventor Botanic Garden (5 miles) is also a dog-friendly site, while at Carisbooke Castle in Newport, dogs are welcome in the grounds (not the museum). While some of the southern beaches have dog restrictions during certain periods, at Bonchurch Beach (6 miles), your ball of energy can burn off some steam – we recommend walking along the coast to get there for a tail-waggingly good day out!
