Recharge your batteries in this delightful studio-style barn that feels like a home from home. In a perfect location for hikers and their furry friends, this cosy couple’s getaway is located on a quiet lane in the village of Healaugh, and has walks from the front door.
This pretty barn conversion has been designed with attention to every detail, combining beams and brickwork with artwork, rugs and cushions for a welcoming ambience. The sleeping area is on your left as you enter, with a double bed cosily tucked under a mezzanine. Near the foot of the bed is a comfortable sofa, and then the dining table, Smart TV and wood burner – a lovely space in which to snuggle up after a day hiking in the fresh air. The hand-built kitchen is fully equipped for preparing picnics, snacks and delicious meals, with lovely display shelves tucked under the high ceilings. From here, a door leads into the shower room. A final treat is the mezzanine snug area with beanbag seating, reached via a ladder. For al fresco relaxation and dining, there is a private garden area opposite the property from which you can drink in the gorgeous views of Swaledale, and perhaps encounter the friendly local sheep.
With your canine companions by your side, you’ll love exploring unspoilt Swaledale, one of the most northerly dales, dotted with villages and hamlets that were first settled by Viking farmers. Try the local produce in nearby Reeth (1.5 miles), Grinton (2 miles) Gunnerside (4.4 miles) and Arkengarthdale (8 miles), and visit historic Richmond (12.5 miles), where you can take a picnic and experience the breathtaking views from Richmond Castle, and follow the drummer boy walk alongside the River Swale to the ruins of 12th-century Easby Abbey.
