This two-bedroom off-grid eco barn with a windmill-generated power supply is a lovely retreat. Your canine companion will go mutts for the bluebell woods and ancient meadows right outside the cottage, while you admire the beautiful views and enjoy reconnecting with nature. In the evening, snuggle by the wood burner and perhaps do a bit of stargazing, since you’re in an International Dark Sky Reserve area.
Both bedrooms are accessed via external steps sheltered by the branches of a tree at this pretty woodland retreat at the end of a steep driveway. The water is supplied by a natural spring, and the power comes from the windmill in the garden. The open-plan kitchen/diner and lounge area with TV is roomy enough for all the family, and is ideal for cosying up at the end of a day by the wood burner as your canine companion snoozes contentedly at your feet - perhaps after a spell in the log-fired sauna that’s shared with one property out of sight. Please note that the secluded nature of this property means that internet speeds are slower than average.
A variety of lovely walks are on the doorstep, and you’re just 4 miles from the pretty town of Crickhowell with its picturesque 16th-century bridge. The town is also the starting point for dozens of circular walks taking in castles, the Brecon Canal, historic sites and of course plenty of dog-friendly refreshment stops! It’s also the departure point for the 5-mile circular trek up Table Mountain – the views from the top right by the Celtic fort remains are sensational, stretching across the Usk Valley and taking in the brooding Black Mountains in the distance. It’s the perfect doggy getaway!
