Bring your four-pawed friend on a solo adventure or couple’s escape to this little gem of a lodge. Set in rolling Dorset hills just 2 miles from the coast, it’s ideal for canine companions who love both walks in the countryside and runs on the beach, and has a safely enclosed garden for him to romp in while you admire the spectacular views from your raised deck.
Drive along the farm lane and park outside the lodge, then lead your pup through the garden and up the three steps to the entrance. Inside you’ll find an open-plan living space, decorated in natural textures and pale tones to emphasise the connection to the countryside. The compact cooking area has been designed to include all the basics for whipping up tasty holiday meals, and there’s a small, wall-mounted table with bar stools for dining. There’s plenty of space on the floor for setting down your hound’s food bowls, and when everyone is full you can enjoy a movie on the Smart TV as your mutt snoozes in front of the wood burner-effect electric stove. The bedroom space is separated by a partition at the far end of the lodge, with a double bed (one side is against the wall) and an en-suite shower room. Take breakfast outside and relish the rural views from your decked terrace as you watch your pup play in the garden, or enjoy a sunset supper as you watch the stars come out in the dark skies above.
Conveniently close to the A35, the lodge is just 2 miles from the Symondsbury Estate, criss-crossed by numerous public pathways, including the iconic climb to the top of Colmers Hill. Several dog-friendly beaches can be reached within 5 miles for fantastic days out by the coast, and the scenic attraction of Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens (dogs welcome on leads) is just 11.5 miles.
