This charming, dog-friendly cottage is perfect for a family or group of friends who want to share holiday adventures with their pets. Sleeping four guests and welcoming three canine companions, the stone-built former stable is set in the peaceful village of Port Mulgrave. You are within a 0.25-mile stroll of the beach, where pups can race free, and clifftop walks offer glorious views. The coastal villages of picture-postcard Staithes and quaint Ruskin Bay are less than 2 miles distant, while the beautiful North York Moors National Park (4 miles), offers splendid walks to explore with your four-legged friends.
Exposed beams, original stonework and a cosy interior create an inviting atmosphere in this characterful property. Relax on comfortable leather sofas in the lounge, with plenty of room for pets to curl up on their dog bed or blanket. There’s ample space, too, in the spacious kitchen, with a country-style dining table. Upstairs are a family bathroom and two pretty bedrooms, both with period-style beds: a double and a twin, which can be made up into a super-king-size. Outside are a sheltered patio area with seating and a large, enclosed garden, shared with two other holiday homes, with seating and a BBQ.
Hunt for fossils at Port Mulgrave’s sand and shale beach while your canines enjoy the sea breeze in their fur. The village is on the long-distance Cleveland Way, and you can follow a 4-mile circular trail along the clifftop to Staithes, returning through unspoiled countryside. Explore charming Staithes and enjoy a crab sandwich on the dog-friendly sandy beach, complete with rock pools. Visit historic Whitby (9.5 miles) and climb the famous 199 steps to the ruined abbey and church of St Mary for panoramic sea views.
