Sniff out the nearby ruins of Rievaulx Abbey (13 miles) and visit Helmsley (10 miles) to find the Helmsley Walled Garden and Helmsley Castle – where you can stop for a cream tea. Leave no stick un-fetched while exploring the North York Moors National Park (5 miles), which is home to the Simon Howe Stone Circle (23.5 miles) and the North Riding Forest Park (13.5 miles). You could also spend a day in the traditional seaside town of Scarborough (26 miles).
